Language acquisition is explored through different stories, songs, rhymes, circle games, labels and everyday exposure, while developing the activities offered in school. Storytelling plays a major role in this process, for kids read stories out loud on a daily basis. Children make their own books, and stories are acted out during drama lessons in order to reinforce vocabulary and develop a love for books and reading.
Arts & Crafts classes are planned to help children let their imagination flow by exploring different textures and techniques, such as stencil, collage, painting, spaying and dropping, using different material. Kids are introduced to famous painters and their respective works on a daily basis, always connected to the theme of the week.
Music appreciation is encouraged by introducing children to different themes, ranging from nursery rhymes to classical music. Kids have the opportunity to experience and play a variety of instruments, such as drums, shakers, bells, tambourines and cymbals, among others, increasing their awareness of rhythm and teamwork. We also have our children produce instruments made out of scraps or recyclable material. Dancing to the sound of music and interpreting music through movement and imaginative play is another fun way to appreciate music. Singing songs and reciting rhymes is an important part of Language Acquisition in early years.
